Har Ki Dun Trek

The journey began on 11th Oct 2022 for Har ki Dun Trek.

We were supposed to reach Mussoorie and stay there overnight.

It was a train journey by Naini-Doon Express by chair car and we reached Dehradun in 4hrs. From there we proceeded to Mussoorie where we were supposed to meet others who were coming in for the trek from Indore, Pune, Bilaspur, Bhopal and Gumkhal.

We were 10 of us, out of which 6 of us were batchmates, all  senior citizens, with ages 62yrs and above.

The excitement was brewing high though apprehensions too were growing for it was a moderately difficult trek of 27 km up and 27 km down, a total of 54 km. We were supposed to reach the base of Swargrohini and reach an altitude of 11700 ft.

Understanding my capabilities we had asked beforehand, for an extra porter (in addition to the offloading of 10 kg luggage which was included in the package) to carry our day pack and to guide us back in case we were unable to complete and felt the need to terminate the trek at any point  while covering the three legs of the trek.

These photographs are of the railway station of Moradabad, the chair car and on way to Mussoorie and Mussoorie hotel.

Before beginning the trek we had to get medical fitness and so we also got out TMT and echo done which were fine.

We had to give an undertaking for risk involved and all our details.

Had prepared for it with a 5km walk interspersed with 10 km fortnightly beginning two months before the due date.

The walk in humid and hot weather of Sept and Oct was tiring but the enthusiasm kept us going.
