Holi- The festival of colours
As the colours of red, yellow and green mingle
Songs of unrequited love they jingle
Festival of spring harvest
makes its arrival
Making every human being feel and enjoy a revival
The celebration signifies
The victory of good over evil
History relates how Holika was burnt to death
And Hiranyakashyap slayed
And Hiranyakashyap slayed
As Vishnu saved Prahlad
And delivered a long awaited justice
And delivered a long awaited justice
To the tunes of beating drums
People meet, laugh, dance and rejoice
In such a spirited atmosphere
Folklore of holi they voice
The coloured blooms join in to magnify the vibrance
Including the 'Tesu trees', the flame of forest that stand tall in silence
Hasya kavi sammelan resonate, the spirit of holi
Groups involved in fun and frolic are given the name of a "toli"
Blessed are we to have
Such delightful festivals in our dominion
That relieve us of our stress
And soothe the hearts of millions
